Hi Mark,
Thank you so much for making our wedding rock!  It was such an amazing party, we all had a wonderful time!  The music really made the night, everyone was so into the band and you guys were a great hit.  "Thank You" was awesome and "All You Need is Love" was such a great way to end the night.  Does everyone do the large group hug during that song?  That was one of my favorite parts!
Thank you so much again, take care and enjoy the fall!
Best,
L and P

Dear Mark,
We've been meaning to write for weeks.  The music at the wedding was AMAZING!  Bill Kopper was a perfect recommendation for the ceremony.  We were nervous about the dining hall layout, and how it would affect the music and dancing.  You made sure it all worked out.  Everyone was blown away by the band.  The Zeppelin tune was a big hit - so many people commented on it.  It is hard to believe the band had never done "You Send Me" together.  And, "I Get By" (With A Little Help From My Friends) - Oh my God - what a last song - completely captured the night.  It brought the evening back to the emotions of the ceremony - a chance for us to look around at all our friends and absorb the feelings of the night one last time.  THANK YOU,  THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Peace, S & K

Dear Mark,
More than six months have passed since Beth and I were married at Sunspot in Winter Park, but I have been intending to write to you ever since.

The music for our wedding ceremony was very important to us, and I had fixed my mind upon a jazz substitution for the usual classical music.  After a good bit of research we were sure that you, Rich and Andy would be perfect.

You were great to work with in choosing the appropriate songs, figuring out logistics, etc.  And during the setup for the ceremony, the three of you were bright spots among the hustle and bustle - incredibly warm, friendly and accommodating.

But it was the ceremony itself that really blew me away.  Our brothers and I walked down the aisle to "My One and Only Love," and it gave me goosebumps.  Once I was installed in place up front, looking out at my family and friends, a few beats went by and I looked over at you on the bass.  I can't believe you would remember it, but you gave me a wink and a smile and with that, the three of you moved into "There Is No Greater Love."  Those first notes hit, and my wife-to-be appeared, and my eyes welled up and I nearly lost it.  It was a truly perfect moment, and I will never forget it.

It's not often in life that things turn out just the way you hoped they would, and when they do (and even surpass your hopes), it's quite a powerful experience.  Your music, and the feel you three lent to it and the event, were an integral part of that.

Thank you three for all you did.  I'm sure we'll be catching one of your gigs one of these days when we are in Denver: We'll see you then.

  Best regards,
   Matt S.

Dear Mark,
Thank you so much for your wonderful talents at our wedding.  The music was phenomenal and helped to create my perfectly imagined atmosphere at the reception!  Everyone was raving about Mary Ann's talent as well as the efforts of The Mark Diamond Trio!  I would recommend you to anyone - we could not have been more pleased!  Thank you once again for taking care of all our needs and making our reception perfect!

Dear Mark,
I just wanted you to know how much I, and really all of us, enjoyed your entertainment last night at our Holiday Party.  I had so many comments about how you and your group were just perfect for the evening.  Your timely tunes really added to the atmosphere and you weren't so loud as to overpower conversations, a real problem sometimes.  I will certainly recommend you in the future.  Best of luck, and happy holidays!

Dear Mark,
We wanted to thank you and the trio for providing such wonderful music at our wedding.  It created a fantastic mood for the day.  You and Andy playing, and Mary Ann's magnificent voice were fantastic!  We are so appreciative of all the time you took to learn our special songs.  When you did "You Make Me So Very Happy", it was a very special moment for us.  Mary Ann did a wonderful job with the vocals. David Clayton Thomas would be proud.  Thank you again for all your hard work.  We hope to see you again many times in the future.  Perhaps we can have you play at our 10th anniversary party.  Plans are already in the works!
All our best, David and Joan S.

Here's a review from the June '07' issue of Downbeat
Jayme Stone
The Utmost

Progressive music played on bluegrass instruments doesn't necessarily mean that the music being played is progressive bluegrass, as is the case with banjoist Jayme Stone's latest effort.  Stone surrounds himself with a fine ensemble of savvy, professional players, producing a sound that is cool, jazzy and atmospheric Americana.  Stone, guitarist Ross Martin, fiddler Adam Galblum and bassist Mark Diamond push these arrangements with an easy grace rather than overpowering with virtuoso licks or brake-neck tempos.  They seem content to flow effortlessly from one tune into another.

Guest mandolinist Matt Flinner shines consistently, and the added presence of trumpeter Kevin Turcotte and cellist Mike Olsen flesh out the band's nuanced approach.  There are even some subtle technological embellishments by David Travers-Smith, but the results feel completely organic.  Stone is the consummate team player, rarely demanding the spotlight but always right in the middle with his polished, inventive banjo playing.  In his compositions, Stone's well-paced sense of sonic drama remains integral to the group's dreamy approach.  - Mitch Myers

Note: This was the only review in the issue for an album not on a label.  Very cool..

BEST BLUES JAM - WESTWORD 1998
The Catacombs at the Hotel Boulderado 2115 13th St. Boulder
This past March, bassist Mark Diamond and violinist Lionel Young celebrated their second anniversary as co-hosts of what has become one of the area's most popular and well-attended blues jams; the two are joined each Monday night at the Catacombs by keyboardist James Torres and drummer Tony Black. Sponsored by Robb's Music and the Colorado Blues Society, the jam has a reputation for quality as well as longevity. It's also known for a few firm rules: The music starts at nine o'clock sharp, and as Young likes to stress, the most important rule is, "If you suck, do not come here and expect to play."
This jam lasted for nearly nine years at The Catacombs, and still continues today every 2nd and 4th Sunday at The Boulder Outlook Hotel.
